I feel like this is a waste of time, because I just listed the most active and populated MMO's on the market. And I see someone make a post just like mine roughly every 24hrs. But, I have spent a fair time with each individual title and after my 10+ years playing theme park MMO's, I can't stomach it anymore.
I also see OSRS, Albion Online, etc suggested a lot, but I've sampled many of those as well (Been playing OSRS since 2007 off and on). I need something fresh, exciting, and addictive like it used to be in the old days.
I dearly miss the sleepless nights that had me hooked to the screen, fully immersed in the world and just content to play alongside others all working together to achieve a common goal. Perhaps my criteria will be met with upcoming titles such as Crowfall, Chronicles of Elyria, Ashes of Creation, Pantheon, etc., but those feel years from being complete.
